Rev. Donald M. Schoeppler was born February 13, 1930, at Minneapolis, MN, to Ira and Hazel (Holcomb) Schoeppler. He was baptized September 14, 1930. Rev. Schoeppler was confi rmed April 2, 1944, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, rural Henderson, MN.
He studied and completed his high school by correspondence from American School, Chicago, IL. Rev. Schoeppler completed his Bachelor of Arts degree from Wartburg College, Waverly, IA, in 1963. He entered Wartburg Theological Seminary, Dubuque, IA. Donald received his bachelor of divinity degree in 1966, and served First Lutheran Church, McGregor, IA, as a student pastor for one and one-half years during the latter part of his studies at Wartburg Seminary.
He was ordained into Lutheran Ministry in 1966 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, rural Henderson, MN. Donald then served Evangelical Lutheran congregations at Christ Lutheran, Pickrell; Immanuel Lutheran, Coleridge; Immanuel Lutheran, Fulda, MN; and St. Luke Lutheran, Traer, IA. He was installed at Immanuel in Coleridge on May 6, 1973.
Pastor Schoeppler retired in June 1995. He devoted 30 years of his life to pastoral ministry. He died January 15, 2009, at Albert Lea, MN, after a lengthy illness.
Donald married Marjorie Thofson June 8, 1957, at Hartland, MN. Their son, Kevin, was born in 1964 and daughter, Rita, in 1966.
