Rev. Rollin Olesen was born and raised in Luck, WI. He was born in the family home in 1931. Rollin was baptized, confi rmed and ordained at Luck Lutheran Church.
His formal education began in 1937 at North Star School in rural Luck. Upon graduating from Luck High School, Rollin entered active duty with the US Navy in January 1951.
After his discharge in 1954, he enrolled at St. Olaf College, Northfi eld, MN. In 1958 he entered the Luther Seminary, St. Paul, MN.
As a seminarian, he served an internship at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and Storet State University in Menominee, WI. Pastoral ministry following ordination in 1962 was at Christ Lutheran Church, Stover, MO; Cross of Glory Lutheran Church, Denver, CO; Immanuel Lutheran Church, Coleridge, NE; and International Interims at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Norfolk, NE, and Messiah Lutheran Church, Grand Island, NE. Pastor Olesen served Immanuel Lutheran from 1979-1994.
During those years of parish ministry he also served in a number of conference, synod and church-wide committee, and council positions.
Rollin was married in 1952 to Beverly Wray at Oakland, CA. They have four children: Mark, Littleton, CO; Julie, Brighton, CO; Kris, Norfolk, NE; and Lynn, Coleridge, NE. They also have seven grandchildren.
